  2. This video is even funnier after you meet the puppies - and they have developed so much more coordination in just the past few days.

They are a lot more fun when they're not nursing - they're just learning how to play. Their hind legs are still relatively weak, which creates some great slapstick comedy when they try to climb over each other.

They remind me of the children in those gigantic families back in the 1970's - tons of rough-housing, but all in good fun.

They already have distinct personalities. So does Coquette, the Mommy dog, who is really enjoying her walks with Anna. Coquette really likes having a lot of people around, so I think she'll make a great adoptee.

Check at just about 1:41 in the video - one of the puppies, jostling for a spot, literally falls onto the grey puppy and knocks grey puppy out of the running.

(I so want dibs on the grey puppy!)

Also, look for "Biscuit", the athlete of the litter. She's the largest puppy, and is recognizable as the tan puppy with the least markings. She's definitely got a big personality - likes to be the leader within the pack, but gets suddenly - adorably - nervous when picked up by a big bad human being. Then she settles down and snuggles against you. (It must be strange to be the "big puppy on campus" only to be picked up by someone 100 times your size!)

We had originally numbered the puppies' collars to tell them apart, since naming seemed too difficult when we first met them. We started with the pure dark puppies, then moved onto black and tan puppies, then we numbered the only grey puppy, then all the tan puppies.

Some of the small black and black-and-tan puppies are just so extra adorable. There's Nikita, almost all black and with a super-soft coat that's slightly longer than her siblings; then Argos with only a little marking and a very sweet personality; then there are two puppies who have a warm cast to their black coats - one, originally labelled #3, is Jeanne D'Arc. I forgot whether we yet came up with a name for #4, sorry!

#5 is a black and tan, slightly smaller, VERY PRECIOUS and thoughtful, his name is Lu Xun after the great Chinese doctor and writer. Can't remember if we named #6 yet, but if we did, I think his name is "Bear."

Jesse is #7. And #8? I'll have to check the notes when I'm back at the house!

Andrew named #9 "Baki" and she already responds to her name!!! That turned out to be a really winning name!

I'm blanking on the name for 10.

11 is "Biscuit" the glamour puppy.

12 is Cerbie, the very smallest of the litter but a real stolid little guy, holds his own against Biscuit's roughhousing.

I can't remember whether #13 or #14 is Hobbes. But they're all insanely cute.
